What's new with KIWL?

The 2023 KIWL 500 took place over 4 days in June, from Utsunomiya to Ichinoseki, via Koriyama, Fukushima, and Matsushima Bay.

The 47-strong peloton included men and women from 13 countries, ranging in age from their 20's to 60's! All were the fortunate recipients of the Oakley range of sunglasses and their latest ARO5 helmet. Riding in support of Mirai no Mori NPO, our chosen charity dedicated to the support and development of kids in care through activities in the outdoors.

The ride itself encountered sun, biblical rain and monstrous winds but the riders were determined to reach their goal.

Fortunately, the rain dissipated after day 2 and we enjoyed beautiful sunny days as we hit the coast of Sendai. We were proud to wear the jersey of Ansys who kindly sponsored day 3 of our ride.

On the final day, we left Matsushima Bar in glorious sunshine, wearing the jersey of Astris Advisory, and joined by Julia Longbottom, the British Ambassador to Japan.

The elation of completing a challenging ride, and the emotion of hitting the finish line greeted by the kids from a local care home waving flags of the countries involved, were memories we will always hold dear.
